Mobile apps that control “Social Networking”

To my own surprise I am writing this article. Yes I felt the need. It’s difficult to concentrate these days in this fast paced life where everyone is rushing to achieve something or the other, this social media has all the more made life more complicated. Despite merits, its overuse is marring the very essence of life.

“Lesser of something is more valued, also more of something is only abused!! “

Long hours of conversation are passé now. A linguistic conversation has been taken over by sms lingos. Album photos are of no use anymore due to over flowing pics in our mobile phones and camera. We are not reading paperback books but apps now.

Social media has become such important platform that it cannot be ignored anymore. Majority are addicted to social media than to any drug or alcohol. Time has come for “Social Networking Control (SNC)” support group and rehabilitation centers.

Yess!! I felt the need even after my previous article on my tryst with silence where I practiced not only silence but also self control on social media. Soo much futile time on social media is unaffordable and has made us more anxious than ever.

Its so well said that “iron cuts iron better” to add pun if we replace iron with apps then “apps cut apps better”. So here’s presenting to you the list of six free apps that will control your urge and anxiety just like it did for me.

It’s possible that you’re suffering from social media addiction. And relax! This app isn’t about stopping your enjoyment of social media; rather, the aim here is to help you identify whether you’re using social media in an addictive way, and help you to find more constructive ways to connect socially.

Forest: Stay Focused

Forest is an app helping you stay away from your smartphone and stay focused on your work. Whenever you want to concentrate, you can plant a seed in Forest. In the next 30 minutes, this small seed will gradually grow into a big tree. However, if you cannot resist the temptation and leave this app to check Facebook or play a game, your little cute tree will wither away. Every day you will own a forest filled with trees (or some withered twigs) and every tree represents 30-MINUTES that you have been working hard.

Stay Focused | study help

This free app is for students who get distracted by their smartphone. The app represses choosen features of your smartphone for a selected amount of time. So if you want to study for two hours without being distracted by your smartphone you set the timer for two hours for phone call’s, sms and all app’s. Then your smartphone won´t ring when a call is incoming or you receive a sms. Althought the chosen apps can´t be used.

Get more social time for your life, and spent less on the phone! AppDetox helps you to calm down your mobile app usage, and take a digital detox. You are able to set your own rules for your apps to detox from some heavy usage and stop procrastinating and phubbing.
